Canary Island Palm

The Canary Island Palm (Phoenix Canariensis), seen all around the Coachella Valley desert, is often called a pineapple palm due to its diamond-patterned thick trunk. This specimen plant can grow up to 60 feet tall with crowns that can grow up to 50 leaves reaching 18 feet long.  These trees flower in the spring. Cactus flowers turn to wonderfully sweet dates in the summer.
